Cheddar 1st team ended their season with a game against Frome 2nds. Unavailability due to Easter holidays gave the chance for several players to step up and it was pleasing to see how well they played. Cheddar got off to a flying start scoring in 2 minutes. A free hit taken by Emily Bear found Lauren Frost who in turn found Ashleigh Jones to net. Frome had been struggling in the league and Cheddar should have taken full advantage of this and so seemed the case when Jones added a 2nd after good work from Josie Douglas. But then play deteriorated as Cheddar tried to force the game through the middle instead of using the wings and passes went amiss. Frome were defending in numbers keeping one player high up and pulled a goal back on a break just before half time. The pace dropped and it looked like a typical end of season match with little to play for. Cheddar were unlucky not to score a third when a well worked short corner routine saw the ball hit the post and then another shot cleared off the line but it was not to be and Cheddar had to be satisfied with the narrow win.
