Cheddar 2nds hosted local rivals Winscombe 3rds determined to continue their recent improved form. The game got off to a flying start with both sides eager to get on the score sheet but it was Cheddar who tested the GK first with Karen Stanleys shot being well saved by Megan Hind. Winscombe retaliated calling Rachel Rousell into action. Play went from end to end shots being saved and cleared off GK pads , shots hitting the post- it was all go but at half time it remained goalless. What was the 2nd half going to bring- well more of the same in an exciting game to please the spectators. Cheddar -playing a back 4 -were handling the pressure well with Penny Cornish, Susan Taylor, Verity Adams and Nicky Baines clearing the lines. Their forwards Jo White Millie Stoyles, Stanley and Julie Callow continued to pressurise Winscombe but Hind was again formidable in goal making save after save. Winscombe came strong at the end with a shot flying over the bar and several short corners but again they were thwarted by Rousell in goal . Cheddars midfielders Tina Stoyles Maggie Hammond Tamsin Chesterfield and Jacky Farley played their part led by player of the match Sian Snelgrove who's tireless running and tackling drove Cheddar on to a well deserved point. Next week Cheddar meet league leaders Nailsea 1st team
