Match Report |
Cheddar were keen to make amends for last weeks performance when they hosted Shepton 2nds.Tight marking and poor passing led to few attacks from either side troubling the goalkeepers until well into the game. Some great runs by Lauren Frost and Sophie Warren saw their shots wide of the mark. A counter attack by Shepton saw some skillful work at the top of the D before the pass and first time shot gave them the lead. Cheddar were unable to put the final touch on crosses and went into the break trailing. At the restart Frost picked up on a loose pass and despite another great run failed to get a shot on target. Another shot went wide , a short corner routine failed and heads went down. Shepton took advantage and in their first attack the shot at goal flew high. GK Rousell thought she had successfully parried the ball to safety only to find it had crept in at the far post. Further Cheddar attacks were wide with one cleared off the line until Warren again worked hard to give Frost the chance which she took to pull a goal back.More pressure saw Shepton's defence tested but they managed to clear their lines and hold out for their win. Cheddars player of the match was awarded to Zoe Humber. Next week Cheddar have a tough game against 2nd place North Somerset
