After the break for Christmas Cheddar resumed their League program with a home fixture against Redland . Unavailability left the home team with a bare 11 players and a defeat would leave them adrift from the top 2. Determined from the start Cheddar took an early lead when a clearance from the back found Josie Douglas, her pass found Sophie Warren who in turn fed on to Kirstie Sugg - her reverse flick beat the GK. Redland attacked earning a corner but the shot was too high .Cheddar increased their in the 12th minute S Warrens found Sugg and her surge down the right outpaced Redland- her cross was met by Douglas who gave the GK no chance. Cheddar continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when Emily Bear stepped up to strike home at a  penalty corner. 3-0 in 15 minutes and Cheddar were flying. The defence of Bear Harriet Gittings Sally Gowan and Megan Jones were frustrating Redland and the midfield of Millie Warren Lauren Civil-Holt and Sian Snelgrove were working hard to support the forwards. After the break Redland called keeper Rachel Rousell into early action making 2 great saves but they pulled one back when miss hit shot deceived the defence and bobbled into the goal. Cheddar woke up and got back into their stride - again the forwards out pacing Redland and calling on the GK to prevent further goals. That was until the ball fed from midfield to Warren who found Sugg again on the right. Her determination and strong running took her into the circle and her shot gave the GK no chance , Redland again called on Rousell to make 2 more great saves before the game came to an end.  Player of the match was Captain Emily Bear. Next week Cheddar have a fixture against league leaders Somerset Gryphons at Clevedon School start 10am
