Cheddars coach decided to try a new formation when his side faced Mendip 2nds - some liked, some not sure, some tweaking needed ? Mendip started well earning a penalty corner with the first strike at goal just needing a touch on the far post. Initially Cheddar struggled to get out of their own half to mount an attack but then Sugg picked up a loose ball and found Lauren Frost in a great position on the left- her aerial shot was well struck but the keeper parried it away -Sophie Warren unlucky not to put the rebound in. Mendip pressed hard but Cheddars defence of Emily Bear, Megan Jones and Harriet Gittings always looked in control making some great interceptions and setting up attacks. Lotte Perry almost gave Cheddar the lead but the keeper smothered her shot and the follow up was cleared off the line. However the goal then came with Aimee Wilson and Perry setting up Sugg with a reverse flick into the net to give a half time lead. Mendip started the 2nd half strongly with keeper Rousell called into action. Cheddars midfield of Lauren Civil- Holt, Sally Gowen, Millie Warren Zoe Humber and Sarah Hind were working tirelessly subbing and slotting in well to different positions to keep Mendip on their toes. Cheddar needed a 2nd goal to consolidate and this came with a quick break from defence- Perry went on a run through centre midfield passing to Frost on the left whose long reach took her past 2 defenders and beat the keeper on her near post.
