Match Report

In a rearranged fixture Cheddar travelled to Firebrands eager to maintain their second spot in the League. Early pressure came from the home team as Cheddar were slow to settle and only a great stretch save from Rachel Rousell to push the ball onto the post prevented Firebrands from taking the lead. Gradually Cheddar worked their way into the game earning 3 short corners in succession  but they failed to capitalise  and the only other chance in the first came with a Kirstie Sugg run and cross which Lotte Perry just put wide. After the break Cheddar upped their game and looked a different side with Sarah Hind, Dani Frost and Louise Denham working hard in midfield. Millie Warren was causing all sorts of problems on the right as Cheddar pushed on and it was her skill that gave them the lead. A slick pass to sister Sophie who squared the ball to Millie Norman and a cracking shot finished the best move of the game. Cheddar began to move the ball with more confidence and build from defence with Mads Street , Emily Bear Beth Gould and Ash Jones outstanding. The 2nd goal came from the back moved up by the Warren girls with Sugg crossing for Norman to add the finishing touch. Sugg and Perry then combined well to earn a short corner. Bear drilled hard and flat to Sugg who deservedly scored Cheddar's 3rd. Firebrands came strong at the end and were awarded a series of short corners but player of the match Mads Street was heroic in her tackling and blocking shots and a clean sheet was kept by the defence. Cheddar's next game is away to Redland UWE on 7th April
