Match Report | In freezing conditions Cheddar needed to get this match done and dusted to keep pole position at the top of Brunel 3. Cheddar didn’t get off to the quickest start even though they had a good deal of possession. It was a real tense affair but Cheddar pushed into the opponents D and were rewarded with a short corner. A well taken hit from the top of the circle by Louisa Denham opened the scoring on 6 minutes. Westberries went down to 10 players after a card was shown for decent and Cheddar were able to double their score line after a shot on goal by Jo White was deflected past the keeper. Cheddar were unable to increase the score although they were the team creating most attacks. Late in the first half Westberries were awarded a dubious short corner from which they managed to scrabble the ball over the line to reduce the score line. In the second half although things were still rather nervy and both teams appeared to panic on the ball, Cheddar held fast and still had several near misses on the Westberries goal by youngsters Maggie Hammond, Lois Tarr and Millie Stoyles. Jo White worked incredibly hard and appeared to cover all areas of the pitch winning the ball and making superb runs into the oppositions half. PoM Louisa Denham.
