Cheddar 1 Vs Knowle 1st

Cheddar were keen to avenge the 3-1 defeat earlier in the season against league leaders Knowle but their encounter proved to be a game of 2 halves with Cheddar left disappointed. Knowle fielded 2 young forwards high up the pitch and their movement off the ball was a constant threat with Cheddars gk called on to make some crucial saves and Ashley Jones helped out with a clearance off her pads. Cheddars midfield of Millie Warren, Emily Bear Sarah Hind and Zoe Humber were working hard to support each other hunting in pairs and feeding on up the pitch. Kirstie Sugg gave Cheddar the lead with a superb solo effort carrying the ball a full 40 m before a cracking shot gave the gk no chance. Another attack saw young Sophie Warren just fail to connect as Knowle's gk came sliding out to save . Sugg then scored her second from a well worked short corner routine to give Cheddar a deserved lead at half time. After the break Knowle came close to reducing the deficit but the shot narrowly missed the post. The next goal would be crucial to both sides and a deflected shot from Sophie Warren was goal bound until the gk flung out her left hand to steer it clear. Knowle got back into the game with a goal. Cheddar lost their way and started to give away free hits- one of these was quickly taken and Knowle equalised. Cheddar fought hard but the cohesion they had in the first half deserted them and when their free hit went astray to a Knowle player they broke down the right and scored the winner
